Scutum Academy is an established apprentice programme with a track record of providing future engineers with the comprehensive basic skills needed to prepare them for a rewarding career in the life safety industry.

Apprentices from throughout the UK have benefitted not only from the development of technical skills in a friendly and inclusive environment but they have done so in the knowledge that there is job waiting at the end of it.

We partner with skills for security who provide dedicated group teaching, providing the foundational knowledge through both theory and practical that future engineers can employ in the real world.

The government estimates that by the end of 2025 there will be a skill shortage of around 250,000 engineers. Within fire and security alone there is around a 25,000 engineer shortage.

There are really exciting prospects for the apprentices. In the fire and security industry it is estimated that around 80% of apprentices within three years of finishing an apprenticeship programme, progress into management roles.
